Hometown Barbell (HTB) marked its third year as a hub for strength and community. From day one, HTB has been more than just a training space. It’s been a home for lifters to push limits, support one another, and embody what grassroots strength culture is all about.
What is Hometown Barbell?
Located at 5904 Enterprise Ct, Frederick, Maryland, Hometown Barbell is a fully equipped strength training facility that caters to serious lifters seeking not only high-level powerlifting and bodybuilding equipment, but a supportive community as well.
Their facility includes:
-
Olympic platforms and calibrated steel/bumper platesi
-
Combo racks, strongman equipment, and athletic turf to support a variety of strength modalities
-
IPF / IWF certified barbells among their gear arsenal
Importantly, HTB is one of only four gyms in Maryland certified by USAPL (United States of America Powerlifting) to host powerlifting competitions.
Founder: Josh Price
HTB was founded by Josh Price, a U.S. military veteran with a background in the Coast Guard. Josh served six years in the USCG and comes from a family with a history of military service.
While serving, he competed in military powerlifting at both state and national levels. After transitioning out of active duty, Josh continued competing, winning events under the USAPL federation.
He and his wife Raquel, with their two children, made Frederick, Maryland, their home base, investing in turning HTB into a serious training environment for anyone committed to strength, discipline, and community.
1HUND Social x Hometown Barbell: Marking the Anniversary
To celebrate HTB’s third birthday, we at 1HUND Social had the privilege to support the event in a few ways:
-
We attended the anniversary gathering, soaking in the atmosphere of sweat, high volume lifts, loud music, friendly competition, and shared passion.
-
We donated 50 pairs of our Aerolux Lite shoes to HTB members, gear built for lifters who want minimal interference, wide toe boxes, and zero-drop stability to help them stay grounded under load.
Highlights from the Event

Looking Ahead
Over three years, HTB has shown how a gym can be more than the sum of its equipment: it's become a place where strength is built in many forms, not just in the weights, but in community and perseverance.
At 1HUND, we're proud to be part of that journey. Here’s to many more years at Hometown Barbell
